TapLabs is seeking responsible, motivated and patient-oriented individuals to join our team in Calgary, Alberta, as Mobile Medical Laboratory Assistants (phlebotomists) for full-time and part-time employment.


TapLabs is a new laboratory specimen collection service in Calgary that utilizes innovative technology to facilitate blood and urine collections in private homes, commercial premises, retirement homes, and long-term care facilities. Our mission is to provide quick, convenient, and exceptional service to a diverse patient population outside the laboratory setting.


This exciting and dynamic role offers independence, flexible work hours, and competitive compensation.


Your responsibilities will include:


  • Visiting private residences or commercial premises to collect patient specimens using TapLabs’ innovative smartphone applications.
  • Ensuring accurate patient and sample identification per physician requisition and ensuring patients have followed necessary test protocol before specimen collection.
  • Performing blood and urine collection
  • Documenting unusual occurrences during collection and troubleshooting, as needed.
  • Spinning, separating and preparing samples for delivery to designated APL laboratories
  • Transporting samples according to APL courier pick-up times, specimen integrity and required travel time
  • Updating availability/work hours and personal information in the system, as needed

Qualifications:


  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record and access to a vehicle
  • Satisfactory criminal reference check
  • Completion of an accredited Medical Laboratory Assistant program or equivalent experience
  • Minimum two years experience in phlebotomy
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to enable you to relate with a wide variety of people
  • Ability to work independently
  • Strong time management and organizational skills
  • Problem-solving skills and the ability to think quickly on your feet
  • Ability to maintain the strictest standards of patient privacy and confidentiality

Candidates must:

  • Adhere to rules for accepting incoming appointments, completing orders and specimen drop-off
  • Update availability/work hours and personal information in the system, as needed

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time, Freelance/Contract


Compensation: Minimum guaranteed hourly wage plus commission and tip earnings equal to competitive market salary.


Work Schedule: Position may be Full Time or Part Time regular role OR flexible schedule determined by the phlebotomist. TapLabs enables freelance/contract phlebotomists to work as little or as much as desired at any time during hours of service, with no advance notice. Very desirable for phlebotomists wanting to maintain a good work/life balance or work overtime hours.
